Be Creative with Guestbook Alternatives!
It’s traditional to have guests sign a book as they arrive to a wedding so the bride and groom know who was able to come and who to thank later. However, it has become more and more common for couples to think outside of the box and come up with something a little more fun.
Looking for ideas? Be creative! There are no limitations. Below are a few guestbook alternatives from recent weddings…
Miranda surprised Grant with this vintage guitar that guests signed as they arrived. Love it! Do you two enjoy being on the lake or slopes together? Think about having guests sign a paddle or ski.
Rachel & Roger had guests stamp their “leaves” with colored ink onto a tree. What a fun, colorful idea! Don’t worry…we had wipes to get those fingers squeaky clean afterwards.
How crafty are Jennifer and Philip?! They cut out fabric squares for guests to write messages and advice. They are going to sew all the squares together to make a quilt.
Beth and Kye love to travel, so it was only natural for them to have guests write on vintage postages of places they’ve been or hope to go.
Find a fun coffee table book and have guests choose a page to sign. It could be a book about historical Franklin, TN like Sarah and Vic, your hometown, favorite vacation spot, honeymoon destination, etc.
Other Guestbook Alternatives…
Wine Bottles
Grab a couple of your favorite wines. Label them with different anniversarys that you two plan to enjoy them. Guests can pick a spot to sign. Helpful hint: silver Sharpies work great on dark bottles.
Engagement Album
Design online or create an album of your engagement photos. It’s not only another way to showcase the amazing photos you two took together, but it is also perfect for guests to leave a message next to their favorite image.
Frame
Allow guests to sign the matting or frame around a photo of you two.
Monogram Letter
At Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or JoAnns, they have giant individual letters – find the one that matches your new last name and paint it to match your wedding colors. Have guests sign it then hang it up in your home!
Time Capsule Notes
Label small boxes with different anniversary years. Guests can write you a note and drop in the box of their choice for you to open when that anniversary rolls around. Oh the anticipation!
Polaroids
Let guests snap their own picture and sign the polaroid photo with a message. Gather them altogher and create a scrapbook.

Letterpress Meets Lace
Victorian meets contemporary in this floral letterpress invitation for the Encore Collection. It nestles its romantic and slightly whimsical lace look in the moss undertone. The “snow” (bright white) colored paper with soft rounded corners has a subtle pearlized shimmer finish and nicely contrasts/accents the design. The textured letterpress surface is a refined touch of elegance and automatically takes the invitation above and beyond others. Nostalgic in nature, this invitation is a romantic choice for winter, spring or summer weddings.
What is Letterpress?
To put it simply, it is relief style printing of an image or text. During the printing process, using moveable type, the text or image is inked onto the paper which is then followed by a direct impression. The result is a raised, textured surface, very similar to the brail printing used by the visually impaired. This artisanal craft dates all the way back to the 15th century and Johannes Gutenberg, the father of letterpress printing. There is your history lesson for the day!

Join CJ’s Off the Square at the Gift Back Gala
It has been quite a week here in Franklin as our community begins to recover from the devastating floods. We were so blessed here at CJ’s to be spared from severe damage but there are many people who have lost everything.
But there is good news! Our open house has been rescheduled and totally revamped as a very special opportunity for all of us to help those families who are in need.
Please join us for The Gift Back Gala!
Here’s the scoop: Come to CJ’s Off the Square this Thursday, May 13th anytime between 6-9 pm and bring any item from your gift registry or a Target, Home Depot or Lowe’s gift card and join in the celebration of generosity that is spreading throughout Middle Tennessee. Pretend you are going to a wedding…but instead of bringing a gift for the happy couple, you will be bringing a gift for a family in need who will be very happy to receive these basic household necessities.
Who says re-gifting is tacky? This is an easy way to “gift back” to families who have lost so much. And who really needs three toasters anyway?
Don’t have a gift registry? Bring a gift card! Your gift will mean so much to so many!
Complimentary valet parking will be provided and all of the fabulous food, drinks and décor you have come to expect from CJ’s Off the Square will be ready and waiting. There is no better way to celebrate our 5th Anniversary and the grand opening of our new event pavilion than “gifting” back to the community that is such an important part of what we are. I do hope you can join us for this very special evening and help our community recover. See you Thursday!
Sincerely,
CJ Dickson, Owner

Invitation of the Week

This stunning invitation is pure elegance. The white, shimmer paper layered over black velvet with a satin ribbon accent looks and feels absolutely gorgeous and it gave me goosebumps to see how happy our clients Brenda and IK were when they saw it for the first time.
We also have a beautiful brown velvet layer and satin ribbon accent to warm up this look for a fall wedding. Either way, this is a great look for any event, any time of year. The black and white is so classic…your guests will definitely won’t want to miss the celebration!

Invitation of the Week

One of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process is helping our clients select their invitations. We carry some of the best paper products in the country and it is so much fun to find a creative way to bring the look and feel of both the couple and the wedding into a printed piece.
I especially love this design by Checkerboard that features the couple’s wedding colors of rich, french blues and creams. The formal monogram is gorgeous and can easily be repeated in all of their wedding stationary from thank you notes to programs.
I hope you enjoy it too!

Please, please, pretty please with sugar on top, will someone order this darling invitation! We just love the soft romance of the vintage garland details hand pressed into each card. With pale peachy pinks and taupes, this is a gorgeous look for any season.
The letterpress details gives this a soft and intimate feeling while the thermography printing of your own wording makes this incredibly affordable (compared to traditional 100% letterpress invitations). Here is the scoop:

Printing: Letterpress graphic and raised thermographed text.
Paper type: Heavy weight eggshell cover stock with a felt finish.
Ink Color Shown: Brown
Price: Starts at about $400 for 100 invitations
Additional ensemble items include:
RSVP Cards, Reception Cards, Thank You Notes
Give me a call if you would like to see this lovely invitation in person. I would be so excited to introduce you to additional styles in this great line of affordable letterpress.

Invitation of the Week – February 1, 2010

Orange is a bold color that is wonderful to work with. It is typically associated with the fall (and UT), but many brides are using it in the spring and summer to accent shades of pinks, yellows and greens for a fresh look that is completely original.
Using orange in your printed pieces is a great way to accent a more traditional ecru or white invitation style. I love both of this pocket design because it can easily be customized with different accent colors such as aqua blue, canary yellow, lipstick pink or a rich chocolate brown. The pocket style also easily organizes all of your wedding day details such as RSVPs, Reception details, accommodations, directions and more. Your guests will appreciate all of the information as well as the stunning design and style of the presentation. –CJ
